Grading Scale Updates for Spring 2020

Many colleges have adopted alternative grading scales for Spring 2020. These grades include but are not limited to: Credit (C), No Credit (NC), Pass (P), Fail (F).  The University of Memphis is sensitive to the academic challenges students faced in Spring 2020 and therefore we are being flexible when considering that semester’s transfer grades.  If alternative grades are present on a transfer applicant’s transcript then we will calculate the transfer GPA using grades through Fall 2019 (or the last term enrolled prior to spring 2020). If A-F grades are present for Spring 2020, then those grades will also be calculated into the transfer GPA.  If alternative grades are present for Spring 2020, then we will subjectively factor those into the overall holistic review process.

Be advised that depending upon the student’s academic major alternative grades for Spring 2020 may be considered differently as it relates to course prerequisites, success for core courses, and graduation requirements.  The student should check with their academic advisor to understand how transfer grades will impact academic progress.

Students enrolled at the University of Memphis for the Spring 2020 semester should consult the Credit/No Credit Opt-in Grading Policy website.
